What was the difficulty
- Ecology in Spain is one of the priority areas of state policy. A special law, La Ley de Calidad del Aire (on air quality), is in force in the country, forcing owners to pay a tax as liability for air pollution.
- There are four tax rates in total, applied based on the level of CO2 emissions from the vehicle engine.
- CO2 emissions ≤ 120 g/km (or if it is an electric vehicle): 0%;
- CO2 emissions > 120 g/km and < 160 g/km: 4.75%;
- CO2 emissions ≥ 160 g/km and < 200 g/km: 9.75%;
- CO2 emissions ≥ 200 g/km (or vehicles whose emission level cannot be determined): 16%.
- All imported vehicles must confirm their environmental class separately - during the homologation procedure. But Para2Move specialists helped the owner of a Mercedes-Benz avoid CO2 emissions homologation and tax payment.
- Since only new residents of Spain can be exempt from the need to confirm the environmental class of the car and, as a result, pay the tax.
