Replacement of a driver's license

You can drive a vehicle in Spain using a foreign driver's license (DL) for 6 months from the moment of entry into Spain as a resident (from the moment of receiving a residence permit), then a fine!

The difficulty of obtaining a driver's license may be caused by ignorance of local laws, deadlines and the language barrier. The Spanish do not learn English, so you will have to figure out many things yourself or look for a translator.

To renew a driver's license obtained in another EU country, the following documents are required:
- A completed application in Spanish (Solicitud de canje de permisos de conducir).
- A valid driver's license (translated into Spanish),
- A TIE residence card (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero).
- A valid passport,
- A certificate of psychophysical fitness (Informe de aptitud psicofísica).
- A receipt for payment of the state fee.

To exchange a Russian driver's license for a Spanish one, you will need to pass theoretical and practical exams. Since Russia does not have an agreement with Spain on the exchange of driver's licenses.
